Servo Systems

The MR-J4 series servo systems have been designed around four key future-embracing, past-revering, and user-centric concepts. These concepts are 'Machine', 'Human', 'Ecology' and 'Heritage'. With these powerful ideologies, the MR-J4 servo-motion systems will offer users the platform to build the next generation machines that require the J-series' hallmark superior performance mingled with industry operational safety trends, all the while saving users costly energy and precious real-estate. For our valued existing users, the MR-J4 servo motor and amplifier products will be a drop-in replacement for the MR-J3 series products.

The MR-J3 has raised the bar for servo speed and performance. With a capacity range of 50W to 55kW, we reduced the size of both the amplifier and motor, added a high resolution encoder and advanced auto-tuning and vibration control. The J3's high torque motor can operate at up to 6000 rpm, and with a speed frequency response of 900 Hz. Twenty percent smaller than its predecessor, the J3's high resolution 262,144ppr encoder is mounted as a standard to provide stability even at low speeds. Mitsubishi Electric Automation's original model adaptive control and ever-evolving automatic tuning function makes precise tuning easy and the J3's advanced vibration control suppresses vibrations automatically. Set-up, diagnostics, and tuning are easy, thanks to MR-Configurator, a Windows™-based software package. MR-Configurator has many improved diagnostic functions, such as an advanced machine analyzer, software oscilloscope, and high speed monitor. A parameter setting window makes start-up easy, and a USB interface enables high-speed sampling and long-term wavelength measurement. The MR-J3 supports the following control methods: Position, Speed, Torque, SSCNET Network, CC-Link and RS-485 Multi Drop.

The MR-J3-xxA-RJ158, offered as part of the MELSERVO MR-J3 family, is an AC servo drive designed to provide users with connectivity to Mitsubishi Electric high-performance servo amplifiers over EtherCAT communication. It connects with the MR-J3-T04 unit that is part of the required construct for the EtherCAT solution, and also houses the EtherCAT interface RJ45 connectors. With this solution, Mitsubishi Electric offers connectivity to EtherCAT master controllers over CANopen or CoE protocols along with the CiA402 drive profile application communication. The drive can run control modes including position, speed and home position. The new line is designed for packaging, material handling, textile, machine tooling, printing and automotive applications, and leverages Mitsubishi Electric's best-in-class servo amplifier performance. Enterprises that require the open EtherCAT network can now connect with the MR-J3 series' machine analyzer and simulation, advanced gain search, vibration suppression control and auto tuning functions, among others. Mitsubishi Electric will offer the EtherCAT amplifier with a capacity ranging from 100W to 22kW. These amplifiers will be able to drive the MR-J3 servomotors, which are equipped with built-in absolute high precision 18bit (262,155 pls/rev) standard. In addition to being compact and offering superb controllability, certain models also allow for up to 350 percent torque overload during acceleration and deceleration periods.

When extreme high speed and accuracy is essential for your application, Mitsubishi's linear servos are the perfect solution. With 17 core type (liquid cooled) models ranging from 60N to 18000N and 9 coreless types in the range of 50N to 3200N, our linear servo technology offers high power density in a compact package, improved heat dissipation, and extremely smooth motion. Designed for easy-of-use, our motors seamlessly integrate with our MR-J3-RJ004 type amplifiers allowing for seamless start up and faster project development as well as a "Robust Disturbance compensation function" that suppresses offset disturbances that cause uneven speeds. Mitsubishi's linear motors have a successful history in many industries ranging from semiconductor manufacturing to machine tools. Set-up, diagnostics, and tuning are easy for all Mitsubishi's servos, thanks to MR-Configurator, our Windows™ based software package.

Mitsubishi direct drive motors have been designed as an enhancement to the MR-J3 series. Currently, we offer 12 types of motors with an instantaneous maximum torque range from 6Nm to 720Nm and an outer diameter of ø130mm to ø330mm. The very high 1,048,576 pulse per revolution encoder allows for extreme accuracy and since the load is directly coupled to the direct drive motor, gear reducers and transmission elements are not needed, resulting in higher torque and rigidity. The motor's low profile design allows for compact construction and a low center of gravity enhances machine stability. Mitsubishi's direct drive motors are suitable for rotation and index tables used in semiconductor manufacturing, liquid crystal manufacturing and rotary indexing applications. Set-up, diagnostics, and tuning are easy for all Mitsubishi's servos, thanks to MR-Configurator, our Windows™ based software package.

Available in sizes ranging from 50W to 400W at speeds up to 4500 rpm, the MR-JN incorporates a high resolution (131,072ppr) encoder and a 1MHz pulse train input. The MR-JN saves you time and money by tuning your machine in a matter of minutes, with a simple press of a button. With its built-in positioning function, advanced vibration suppression control and the ability to prevent resonance as a machine ages, it is one tough AC servo series. Due to its compact size and low cost, it is also an ideal solution for upgrading stepper motor systems. Its compact bookcase-style mounting design means smaller electrical panels are needed for X-Y tables and applications such as conveyors; food processing machines; loaders and unloaders; robots; medical devices; laboratory automation equipment; and semiconductor, LCD and solar battery processing machines.

Now with even higher positioning accuracy and responsiveness, the MR-E Super is an excellent choice for applications ranging from 100W to 2kW. The MR-E Super is available in pulse-train position or analog speed/torque control models. The amplifier features Mitsubishi Electric's legendary auto-tuning and vibration suppression functions, a 500Hz analog frequency response, and accepts pulse commands up to 1000 kHz. The motors are low to medium inertia up to 4500rpm and are equipped with a higher resolution 131,072ppr encoder. Set-up and diagnosis is easy with the MR-Configurator Windows based software.

The unique servo system for micro applications using the latest in servo technology operating at 24 VDC input with: patented Real-Time Adaptive Tuning; RS-232C serial interface for Windows based set-up (MR-Configurator); speed, positioning, and torque modes; low acoustic noise; and a built-in parameter unit. The MR-J2-JR supports the following control methods: Position, Speed, Torque, SSCNET Network, Built-In Motion, and RS-485 Multi Drop.
