The iQ Platform unifies all of the Mitsubishi Electric automation disciplines into a one-of-a-kind modular Programmable Automation Controller (PAC). The iQ Platform is the only PAC capable of integrating individual Sequence, Motion, CNC, and Robot control onto a single back-plane rack. Based on the multi-CPU architecture of the renowned Q Series Automation Platform, the key to this multi-discipline functionality is the CPU-only data bus on all Q3*DB base units. This secondary bus facilitates a large high-speed shared memory area between up to 4 CPUs, each controlling different aspects of the automation system. Each CPU then shares its working data at an almost instantaneous refresh rate between all CPUs in the configuration. This design makes the iQ Platform ideal for multi-discipline systems.

The MES Interface IT - Enterprise Connectivity Interface
Part of Mitsubishi Electric’s e-F@ctory concept, the MES Interface IT bridges the traditional gap between the factory and office by enabling bi-directional data communication from the production floor to enterprise IT systems. Eliminating all middleware and gateway PCs, the MES Interface IT controller-level direct database access provides users with the leanest solution possible, reducing overhead costs as well as points of failure. Easy and reliable data access across all networked control systems creates limitless application possibilities, from quality control to logistics management.

Q Series stands apart from conventional PLCs. It is a new, multidisciplinary automation platform addressing needs of OEMs and end users scalable across the general scope of automation applications from smaller to very large systems. While PLCs are typically limited to sequence control, Q Series offers a broad spectrum of different automation capabilities. We refer to it as an "automation platform", as sequence control is just one of its many capabilities. It is equally capable of process, sophisticated motion and open, PC based control, either individually, or simultaneously. Hence Q Series is much more than just a PLC.

The Q Series Motion Controllers meets your need for higher performance and smaller size, all with high-speed motion control! Ideal for small to large scale applications with up to 96 control axes. Various motion controller operating system software packages are also available. With increased high-speed motion, flexibility and compatibility with the Q Series PLC CPU, the Q Series Motion Controllers are the best choice for next-generation motion control technology!

The QnPRH is Mitsubishi’s most sophisticated controller system, and represents the top end of the Q Series Automation Platform line. It offers Tri-Level Redundancy ™ which insures complete immunity to process interruptions caused by power or system failures. This is achieved by using a fully redundant architecture that duplicates processors and network links. Hot-swap capability provides the third level of redundancy. The QnPRH is rounded out by a full complement of process control capabilities.

The QS is an IEC 61508 SIL 3/EN 954 Category 4 certified Safety PLC suitable for all critical safety applications. It is complemented by the open CC-Link Safety device level network, which is also SIL 3 certified for the networking of vital safety devices, such as emergency stops, light curtains and pressure mats.

The Q Selection Tool is a web-based utility that simplifies the selection of Q Series and iQ Platform hardware. With an easy to use wizard-style format, the tool allows users to point-and-click their way to a complete Q system that fits their application needs as well as all configuration rules. When finished, users can print their finished purchase list or configuration chart for further discussions with a Mitsubishi sales representative.
